The Next Ecology is a space for rethinking how we live with the natural world. It’s about moving beyond sustainability as a buzzword, and instead building systems that genuinely restore and protect life. We work within cities and landscapes, across policy and practice, to create change that is ambitious, fair, and grounded in science. The Next Ecology is both a home for my consultancy work in Copenhagen and a platform for a wider movement towards environmental justice.
At The Next Ecology, we believe lasting change needs more than a single fix – it needs an interdisciplinary, systems-level, collaborative approach.
Sustainability doesn't work like a typical specialist problem. Many disciplines meet in this field, and a single-specialism fix often misses what's actually driving the issue. Bringing knowledge and skills from multiple disciplines ensures the solution you get isn't just a patch, but a real fix.
It's easy to see that something isn't working and try to fix it. It's much harder to recognise that the problem is actually a symptom of something else. By looking at your organisation at a systems level, we trace problems through their underlying processes to find the real tension – where one fix solves many problems, not just one.
You know your business better than we do, and your knowledge belongs in the process. We don't tell you what to do – we work with you to identify the real challenges, and find solutions that actually fit how you work.
